Is there real evidence behind Ayurveda, or is it a tradition people are loyal to?
A fair question, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a defensive one.

I will give you the straight answer, because the question deserves one and not a defence.
Some of Ayurveda is well supported by research. Some of it is not yet. And anyone who tells you all of it is proven is selling you something - be as careful of them as of the one who dismisses five thousand years without reading a page.
What is not in dispute is the difference in temperament. Modern medicine is firefighting, and thank God for it - when the house is burning you do not want a gardener. Ayurveda is the gardening: it asks what soil grew this illness. Weak agni, accumulated ama, channels that have silted up.
One puts out the fire. The other decides whether there is a fire next year. A wise person keeps both numbers in their phone.
Is Ayurveda Effective? walks through what the research has and has not shown.
