How much water is actually right, and does it matter when you drink it?
Everyone has heard a number. Where does it come from?

I will not give you a number, and I would be wary of anyone who gives you one without first asking about your climate, your work, your medicines and your kidneys. Eight glasses is a slogan. Your body is not a slogan.
What is worth knowing is how much water is doing while you think of it not at all. It moves through the blood like a messenger, carrying oxygen and nourishment, cooling you when the sun is strong, keeping the heart in rhythm. It becomes saliva and the digestive juices, so that every meal finds its path eased. In the kidneys it turns into a cleansing river. In the joints it is synovial fluid, silent, cushioning each step you take without thanks. In the muscles it carries the spark that lets you move at all.
Water is not what you drink. It is what you are.
Read that way, hydration stops being a target to hit and becomes a practice to keep. Liquid Healing.
