How do I find out which dosha I am, and does it change over a lifetime?
One of the first things people want to know, and the answer has two halves.

Both halves of your question have an answer, and they are different answers.
Prakriti is the proportion of Vata, Pitta and Kapha you arrived with. It is the grain of the wood. It does not change. Vikriti is where you stand today - and that moves with the season, the work, the sleeping, the decade.
Learn to read the three and you will recognise yourself:
- Vata, air and ether - movement, circulation, the nervous system. When it is disturbed: restlessness, dryness, constipation, sleep that will not hold.
- Pitta, fire and water - digestion, metabolism, heat. In excess: acidity, inflamed skin, a temper that arrives before you do.
- Kapha, earth and water - structure, stability, lubrication. Out of balance: weight, congestion, a heaviness in starting anything.
Almost everyone meets the imbalance before they meet the constitution. That is not a lesser beginning; it is the usual one.
Living In Tune takes each in turn, and Discover the Three Doshas gives the daily corrections.
